Email subject line should be short, relevant, and catchy. We have ideas here!
Start your email or letter with your name, mailing address, and email address on the top left.
Next, include today's date in "Month Day, Year" format (i.e. January 14, 2026).
Put your MLA's or the Ministry's contact information next, including their mailing address and email address.
Now enter a salutation, like "Dear Mr. Smith:" or "To the Ministry of Health:".
Write your letter, or use one of our templates. You can either send the template without edits, add your own experiences to it, or use it as a starting point for your own custom letter.
Your personal story is the most effective advocacy piece of a letter. If you're comfortable sharing any part of your experience with your MLA, it will be more impactful and drive your message home more effectively.
End your letter with a call to action, like asking for a meeting or phone call, especially if you are writing to your MLA.
Close your letter by writing something like "Sincerely," or "Kind regards," then type your full name. On the next line, add the text [digitally signed] if you are sending by email. If not, leave out and print, sign, and send your letter via the mail.
If you CCed anyone on the email or letter, add each on its own separate line now like so:
cc: Health Minister Josie Osborne
cc: Premier David Eby
